Below is a compilation of UML drawing & editing tools which are:

  • Free (and most of them are open source),
  • Standalone (not installed as plug-in or add-in),
  • Easy to download and install,
  • No-need to registration and activation keys,
  • Fast to start and use.

  4. Bouml is much better than many paid tools. Unfortunately, due to a disagreement with wikipedia (license violation), as a protest, its creator decided to stop work on it.

  5. Another great tool is Software Ideas Modeler (http://www.softwareideas.net).

  6. Software Ideas Modeler user interface looks like EA (Enterprise Architect) and very successful. But there is a price for professional usage.
    Thanks for sharing.

  7. If talking about easy to use, free, easy to install, I'd 100% support Red Koda Community http://www.redkoda.com/download.php.
