Below is a compilation of UML drawing & editing tools which are:
- Free (and most of them are open source),
- Standalone (not installed as plug-in or add-in),
- Easy to download and install,
- No-need to registration and activation keys,
- Fast to start and use.
Note: Last 2 editors are text based web uml tools.

You're right, it is another free & usable editor and may be involved in this list too. Thanks for your addition.ReplyDelete
Astah is pretty good too!ReplyDelete
Bouml is much better than many paid tools. Unfortunately, due to a disagreement with wikipedia (license violation), as a protest, its creator decided to stop work on it.ReplyDelete
Software Ideas Modeler user interface looks like EA (Enterprise Architect) and very successful. But there is a price for professional usage.ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing.
If talking about easy to use, free, easy to install, I'd 100% support Red Koda Community http://www.redkoda.com/download.php.ReplyDelete
Great article, thanks.ReplyDelete
Actually I'm trying DIA.
On my blog I've just added few little indications for a "quick" choice in certain context (ie: Italian users)
